This double emulsion droplet generator chip fabricated in polycarbonate (PC) or Topas (COC), allows you to generate droplet-in-droplet within 3 designs. The chips include Luer connections to ensure leak-free junctions to the inlet ant outlet tubings.

The ChipShop chips are convenient, cost-effective and reliable for all your experiments:

  • Luer connection molded with the chip: leak-free
  • Highly-resistant and optically clear material: PC (Polycarbonate) or Topas (COC)
  • Standard microscope glass slide size

This droplet-in-droplet generator chip have several inlets and outlets to fit all your experiments. Block the unused inlets and outlets with plugs.

PC (polycarbonate) is a transparent thermoplastic, less hydrophobic than COC or COP and showing a better filling behaviour. It can be used for higher temperature applications like PCR. The drawback of this material is the relatively high intrinsic fluorescence compared to COC, COP or PMMA.

PC can be used with:
  • Aqueous solutions including diluted acids and bases
  • Alcohols
  • Oils and fats

PC must not be used with:

  • Bases
  • Halogenated hydrocarbons
  • Ketones, Aldehydes
  • Esters
  • Amines
  • Aromatics

Topas (COC) is a transparent thermoplastic cyclo-olefin copolymer, completely nonpolar and amorphous. It has a very low permeability for water vapour and a low capacity for the absorption of water.

  • Tg: 142°C
  • Refractive index: 1.53
COC can be used with:
  • Aqueous solutions including acids and bases
  • Polar solvens
  • Silicone oils

COC must not be used with:

  • Nonpolar solvents
  • Mineral oils (hydrocarbons)
  • Fats
  • Halogenated hydrocarbons

Drop Generator Chips

We love the chips, they work really well. But we don't have a need for two outputs, always had to plug one, the luer plugs don't always work, ended up putting uncured PDMS in to block one channel.
