Presentation

microfluidic-gear-pumpLow pressure pumps are innovative pumps designed for use in analytical instrumentation. The pumps generate a low pulsation, highly precise flow featuring low shear stress. They dispense  the lowest volumes in microliter range at a very high precision. Thanks to this compact design small dimensions have been achieved. The pump is perfect for dosage of low viscosity liquids such as deionized water, watery solutions, methanol, solvents, oil and lubricants.

Operating principle of the Small Footprint Microfluidic Gear Pumps

Small Footprint Microfluidic Gear Pumps are positive displacement pumps containing two rotors bearing slightly eccentrically to each other; an externally toothed internal rotor and an annular, internally toothed external rotor (see figure 6).

 

 
Because of their cycloid indenting, the rotors remain always interlocked , forming during rotation a system of several sealed pumping chambers. As the rotors revolve around their offset axis, the pumping chambers increase on the induction (suction) side and at the same time decrease on the delivery side of the pump. A homogenous flow is created between the kidney-like inlet and outlet.

Technical characteristics of the drive

The Small Footprint Microfluidic Gear Pumps are driven by DC motors with graphite brushes.

The motors are highly dynamic and perfectly adapted for programmed dosage tasks performed by the Small Footprint Microfluidic Gear Pumps.
