Y shaped multi-size droplet generator in glass for oil-in-water generation, T-25 model. Available with standard 1/4-28 ports or direct through holes.
General
These chips are convenient, cost-effective, and reliable to generate monodisperse bubbles and droplets:
- Highly-resistant and optically clear glass
- Standard microscope glass slide size (25 x 75 mm)
- Through hole ports: compatible with the LTF Glass Chip Holder
- Standard 1/4-28 UNF ports: easy connection to your system
- Hydrophilic for oil-in-water droplet generation (hydrophobic coating possible)
This T-25 glass chip model displays two Y-shaped cross-sections. Generate a wide range of droplet sizes: use the first cross-section to make small droplets, or the second cross-section to make larger ones. Just plug the port you don't want to use!
WARNING: Chip made by sandblasting, the rough surface of the channels is normal and does not impact the droplet generation process.

Principle
The geometry of the intersection where the two phases meet, flow rates and fluid properties (surface tension, viscosity) determine local stresses which deform the liquid interface and lead to the production of drops.
In emulsion science with microfluidics the drops are formed at the intersection of two immiscible fluids streams. Physically, the influence of the interfacial tension between the two phases governed by Rayleigh-Plateau instability enables the formation of drops. The application of shear stress on an emulsion droplet causes its elongation, then its rupture.
T-25 chip ensures the production of single droplet systems with high precision and accuracy for applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries.
