Multi-size Droplet Generator - Glass Chip
Microfluidic droplet generators are useful tools for generating highly reproducible micro-sized droplets. These chips ensure single droplet production in a wide size range with high precision and accuracy. Glass chips are hydrophilic, making it easy to generate oil-in-water droplets. Two standard types of droplet generators are available in our store: T-26 chip and T-27 chip.
General
These chips are convenient, cost-effective, and reliable to generate monodisperse bubbles and droplets:
- Highly-resistant and optically clear glass
- Standard microscope glass slide size (25 x 75 mm)
- Easy handling
- Standard 1/4-28 UNF threaded ports: easy connection to your system
- Hydrophilic for oil-in-water droplet generation (hydrophobic coating possible)
Generate a wide range of droplet sizes: use the first cross-section to make small droplets, or the second cross-section to make larger ones. Just plug the port you don't want to use!
With one chip you can create droplets with two different diameter ranges according to the chosen pattern (indicative values):
- T-26:
- Ø range 40 µm - 100 µm (50 µm nozzle)
- Ø range 60 µm - 150 µm (100 µm nozzle)
- T-27:
- Ø range 40 µm - 100 µm (50 µm nozzle)
- Ø range 70 µm - 250 µm (200 µm nozzle)
Choose your T-26 chip without nozzles for more viscous fluids or the T-27 chip with nozzles for an easier and more regular droplet production on less viscous fluids.
WARNING: Chip made by sandblasting, the rough surface of the channels is normal and does not impact the droplet generation process.

Principle
The geometry of the intersection where the two phases meet, flow rates and fluid properties (surface tension, viscosity) determine local stresses which deform the liquid interface and lead to the production of drops.
In emulsion science with microfluidics the drops are formed at the intersection of two immiscible fluids streams. Physically, the influence of the interfacial tension between the two phases governed by Rayleigh-Plateau instability enables the formation of drops. The application of shear stress on an emulsion droplet causes its elongation, then its rupture.
T-26 and T-27 chips ensure the production of single droplet systems with high precision and accuracy for applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries.
