The Fluidic 200 Plasma Generation Chip manufactured by ChipShop features 4 round membranes to generate plasma/serum from whole blood. The inlets and outlets with integrated Luer and mini Luer connections ensure leak-free junctions to the tubing.
General
This chip displays four independent units composed of a round plasma generation membrane to obtain plasma/serum from whole blood. Each membrane has a diameter of 10 mm and can generate roughly 12-15 µL of plasma/serum out of 25 µL full blood.
Each unit consists of a Luer interface (1) for blood loading, a support channel with a cross-section of 300 µm x 100 µm (2) for the transfer of the blood on top of a separation membrane (3), fused into a chamber of 10 mm diameter. A collection channel (4) allows to collection of the plasma/serum from below the membrane.
The unit also features a ventilation channel of 100 µm x 100 µm (5) below the membrane. The vacuum is applied via the collection channel and the related Mini Luer interface (6) to the outer world. A third interface (7), which is closed during the sample loading, helps to smoothly release the vacuum if the membrane pores are blocked by the solid components of the blood such as erythrocytes, monocytes, platelets, or leucocytes. There is also an additional venting line on the unit design for easier filling of the membrane chamber. Sample loading can be done either by pipette or via a tank and filtration can be operated passively or through a pump.
- Luer and Mini Luer connections molded with the chip: leak-free
- Highly-resistant and optically clear material: Topas (COC)
- Standard microscope glass slide size
