The spheroid chip Fluidic 1407 manufactured by ChipShop can be used for the separation of pre-cultivated spheroids or the formation of spheroids and their cultivation as well as their imaging on-chip. The inlets and outlets with integrated mini Luer connections ensure leak-free junctions to the tubing.
General
This chip enables the cultivation of spheroids, whether they are pre-formed before insertion in the chip or are being formed inside the chip. The spheroidal cell structures can then be imaged on-chip for analysis.

The chip displays a total of 12 structures, with a bubble catcher trap for all inputs. The goblet-shaped catcher structures are arranged along a meandering, band-like main channel. Each catcher structure is followed by a small passage channel through which a suction effect is generated which draws spheroids into the catcher structures.

Two varying structures can be found on the chip with different dimensions for both the catcher and the passage channels and with single or double loops.
Advice: To inhibit cell adhesion to the surface, it is recommended to add polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).
